Trust matters to us. This page explains, in plain language, how TinyHomePets.com is funded, how we choose what to recommend, and how our affiliate relationships work.

How We Make Money

TinyHomePets is a small, independently run blog. We support the cost of running the Site through two main sources:

  • Display advertising, including through Google AdSense (once approved) and similar ad networks, which pay us based on ad impressions or clicks;
  • Affiliate commissions, earned when you click certain links on our Site and make a qualifying purchase, at no additional cost to you.

Amazon Associates Disclosure

TinyHomePets.com is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.

This means that if you click a link to Amazon from our Site and make a purchase, we may receive a small commission. The price you pay is not affected.

Other Affiliate Partnerships

From time to time, we may join other affiliate programs relevant to pet products and small-space living (for example, pet retailers or product manufacturers). Any such partnerships will operate under the same principles described on this page, and this page will be updated to reflect current partners.

Editorial Independence

Our content and recommendations are based on our own research, testing where possible, and genuine assessment of a product’s fit for small-space pet owners. Affiliate relationships do not determine which products we cover or how we rate them. We do not accept payment in exchange for a guaranteed positive review.

Sponsored Content

If we ever publish sponsored content or accept free products for review, it will be clearly and conspicuously labeled as “Sponsored” or “Provided for review” at the top of the relevant article, in line with Canadian advertising standards and Competition Bureau guidelines on disclosure.

No Extra Cost to You

Using our affiliate links never costs you anything extra. Commissions are paid by the retailer out of their own marketing budget, not added to your purchase price.

How We Disclose Affiliate Links

In addition to this page, individual articles containing affiliate links include a disclosure near the top of the post (for example, “This post contains affiliate links. We may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.”) and, where relevant, inline tags near specific links.

Questions

If you have questions about how we make money or how a specific recommendation was chosen, we’re happy to explain.
